The LMS Robotics Club sponsored two teams in the 2014/2015 FIRST® LEGO® League WORLD CLASS℠ Challenge. The two teams are made up from students at Lincoln Middle School, in Mount Prospect, Il. Team 492, "This is for the Birds", was made up of 1 8th Grader, 4 7th graders and 5 rookie 6th graders. They were coached by Mr. Jamie Beedy & Mrs. Kerrie Pasternak.
Team 493, BrainSweat, was made up of 6 8th Graders and 4 7th Graders. BrainSweat was coached by Mr. Mike Gut and Mr. Dan Graver. Both teams were sponsored Ms. Kristen Kaage.
Team 492 competed at the FLL Mount Prospect Regional Qualifier A Tournament on December 13th. The Team placed second in Robot Performance with a table Score of 209. The Team also won the Highest award, the Champions Award, giving to the team that excelled in all 3 areas of Judging, Project, Technical and Core Values. By winning the Champions Award, they were given a seat at the Illinois Northern State Championship.
Team 493 competed at the FLL Mount Prospect Regional Qualifier B Tournament on December 13th. The Team placed first in Robot Performance with a table Score of 210. BrainSweat also won the Highest award, the Champions Award. By winning the Champions Award, they were also awarded a seat at the Illinois Northern State Championship.
At the Illinois Northern State Championship,competing with the top 84 teams from Northern Illinois, Team 492, with a table score of 348, finished in 13th Place. Team 493, finished with a score of 150 points, in 49th Place.
Both teams were finalists in the Presentation awards. Team 492 was a finalist in the Presentation Categories. And Team 493 was a Finalist in the Core Values Categories.
This was the First time since the Start of the LMS Robotics Program inception that it had two teams win the Champions Award at their Qualifying Tournaments.
