Lincoln Robotics at the 2018 Robotics World Championship

The Lincoln Middle School Robotics team traveled to Detroit, Michigan to compete in the 2018 World Championship The The theme challenge was Hydrodynamics – how people find, transport, use and dispose of water in the human water cycle.

The Lincoln team selected the problem of agriculture water runoff entering the human water cycle. Farm field runoff contains soil, fertilizer and pesticides. The team developed a solution using a sedimentation tank/clarifier on the field followed by a natural filter made of sweet tree gumballs. They shared this solution with professionals, farmers, university professors and waste water treatment experts. The solution is designed to be installed on a farm to capture soil and remove fertilizers and pesticides before the water enters lakes, rivers and streams. They placed 17th in robot performance at World.
